Jim Williams received a BFA from Drake University with an emphasis in painting and an MFA in printmaking from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin He is on the faculty of the University of Cincinnati ‘s School of Art His prints and mixed media work have been exhibited broadly throughout the United States and abroad. His work has been included in numerous national exhibitions including Color Print USA, Texas Tech University; The 23 Bradley National Print & Drawing Exhibition, The 2nd National Works on Paper Exhibition, University of Mississippi Museum; and The Northwest International Print Exhibition; Seattle Art Museum (Seattle, WA). Selected group and one person exhibitions include Des Moines Art Center, (Des Moines, IA); The Contemporary Art Center, Cincinnati Art Museum, and Carl Solway Gallery, (Cincinnati, OH), Kharkiv Art Museum (Kharkiv, Ukraine), Holdsworth Galleries (New South Wales, Australia), Massillon Museum,(Massillon, OH) Capitol Arts Center (Bowling Green, KY), The Seijong Art Center (Seoul, Korea), and Tampa Bay Art Center (Tampa, FL). . Jim Williams’ work is included in many public, private, and corporate collections.
The latest body of work continues to explore the use of found material, residue from construction sites and other sources that form the basis of both relief and screen printing matrixes where the rich array of unusual shape and surface quality mirror/echo the vitality of life found in the man-made and natural environment.
